Who Turns Up
A lot of the housing stock around Florence went up between 1965 and 1988, with the median build year sitting around 1977. That means a good share of the doors and openers we quote on are original hardware from that era, or a first replacement that's now aging out itself. Across the seven main areas we work in, most of what we see is 1960s and 70s stock - steel doors on torsion springs sized for the original panel weight, openers that predate anything with a smartphone app.
When we come out to quote, we're not guessing at what's behind the door. We're expecting a certain kind of build, and that shapes what we look for: rusted bottom brackets on doors that have sat through a lot of humid summers, worn rollers, springs that were never rated for a heavier replacement panel someone bolted on later. We work on standard residential doors - sectional steel, some older wood panel doors still hanging on in the older sections of town - and on the openers that go with them.
We don't handle commercial rolling doors or gate operators.
The Short Version
A phone quote gets you a range. An accurate number needs eyes on the door. Tell us the symptom - won't open, opens partway, makes a bang and stops, spring looks snapped - and we can tell you roughly what that usually runs.
But spring size, track condition, whether the opener motor is salvageable, and whether the panel itself is warped all change the number, and none of that shows up over the phone. With median household income in the area around $31,240, we know a repair quote that changes at the door is the last thing anyone wants. So we'd rather look first.
If you can send a photo of the spring area and the track when you call, that speeds things up. If not, we'll get you a firm number on site before any work starts, not after.
The Work We Take On
Broken torsion and extension springs, snapped cables, bent or off-track doors, worn rollers and hinges, opener repair and replacement, and full door replacement when a repair isn't worth it anymore - that's the bulk of the calls. Given the age of housing stock here (median build year 1977), a lot of jobs involve matching new opener electronics to an old drum-and-shaft setup, or explaining why a 45-year-old door with a rusted-through bottom section is a replacement job, not a repair. That's the honest limitation: if the door has been sitting broken for a while and the springs, track, and panel have all gone at once, we'll tell you replacement costs less over time than another patch.
We work on single and double residential garage doors and their openers. We don't install fencing, storm shutters, or anything unrelated to the garage door itself, even if it's attached to the same wall.

Have the door's approximate age and any recent noise or movement changes ready; it cuts down on back-and-forth and gets you a quote that holds up once we're standing in front of the door.
